Cracking Spines was going to initially be called, “Chelsea’s Bookshelf” but that was just a bit too tame for me. I’d like to tell you that there will be some semblance of order to the reviews you will read on this blog, but I also don’twant to lie to you straight from the start. My reviews will consist of the books I’m actually reading in my personal life, not the top ten bestsellers, and certainly not Oprah’s book of the week. My choices, my books.
I hope you’ll be able to glean some useful information from my blog, and that’ll I’ll spare you from the struggle of making it through a boring book.
That’s where my BCD comes in.
That’s book-reading compulsive disorder.
Once I start a book, I can’t stop it– no matter how terrible.
Sick and twisted, I know.
Waste of time, possibly.
Beneficial… You never know…

Hey there .. just saw this page from your poem that you posted … so cool … so when you post something you will FB it and share it I imagine … so keep in the loop
As far as a book .. I am reading Laura Bush biography .. always have been partial to bios … I just finished a quick read in the car up to SC the other week …
Heaven is for REAL .. very good read
I don’t have your disorder but when I’m in a book .. it’s hard to put down and even cook dinner that night …
Sending you love xxxooo

I’m following up on your new subscription to my blog ‘Beetles in the Bush’. Can you please confirm if it’s legit? Thanks!

How do I do that? I’m a real person if that’s what you mean. Lol

You just did – thanks!
Sorry for questioning, but I’ve had a surge of spam comments and fake subscriptions recently – just trying to figure out which ones are real.
I appreciate your readership!

I understand, I have to delete spam comments every day. *Sigh*

You read books no matter how terrible they are?! I salute you for your patience. I’ve haven’t given up on many (perhaps four or five) but there are several more I wish I had given up on.

Yes, the only two book I’ve ever stopped were The Telling Pool by David Clement-Davies and The Sword of Shanera by Terry Brooks. Blegh.

Hi! I’m Sue, and I’m from SlimKicker, a fitness/diet app and website. I saw your blog a few days ago and it captured my interest!
I’m contacting you b/c we’re about to release a fitness tracker (similar to FitBit) early next year, and are looking for bloggers who would be interested in receiving 1 for free to review when it is out (negative or positive).
Would you be interested in doing this? You can email me at: sue (at) slimkicker (com) with ‘Review’ in the email heading if you are.
In case you don’t know, our website SlimKicker basically turns your fitness/diet goals into a level-up RPG game. The tracker will work with the website, and allow people to track calories burned and number of steps they walk automatically. The more they exercise, the more points they rack up! That’s basically how it will work.
Anyway, hope to hear back either way…
– Sue

Sure, I’d be interested. What do you need from me, Sue?

I’m just like you. I just finished a book and it wasn’t good at all. It just dragged on and on but I had to keep going (it did have the potential to be good but sadly it wasn’t). However, for me reading those type of books helps me with my writing. It helps me see what I should and shouldn’t put in my novels. It gives me a better perspective on what the “readers” are looking for.
I will have to go and take a look at some of your reviews! 🙂

BCD must be a wonderful thing have. I have a hard time not putting books down. Actually, if you didn’t like the book but had to keep reading, perhaps that would be torment. Looking forward to your thoughts on both good and bad.

It is definitely a form of self-inflicted boredom and torture sometimes!
